Chateau Paveil de Luze 2016

Flag of France

Château Paveil de Luze is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc. On the route des grands crus, it's located in the the heart of the Margaux appellation, in the small town of Soussans. The Château is a beautiful building with two towers which forms a landmark in a horizon of vines, which sit above the famed gravelly soil. The Château has been in the de Luze family since 1862, with its current custodian, Frédéric de Luze, head winemaker today. The 2016 vintage is made from a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot; the grapes were harvested and aged in oak for 12 months prior to release. The nose has flavours of crème de cassis, loamy soil, cigar, graphite, dark chocolate and the classic Margaux note of rose petals. The palate is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated; the finish is fine and long. It's drinking beautifully now, but will continue to develop over the next 15-20 years.
